Coming to Performance MCR at Bridgewater Hall on Wednesday 24th June 2026?

With hundreds of performance marketers heading into Manchester for Performance MCR 2026, we wanted to make the day easier for attendees while also pointing people towards some of the brilliant food spots already on the venue’s doorstep.

Whilst we’re not providing lunch at the venue, we’re encouraging delegates to plan their lunch, explore the area around Bridgewater Hall, and support local Manchester favourites while they’re here.

Here are a few easy places to grab food nearby without wandering halfway across Manchester ..

We’ll be honest: conference lunch breaks can go one of two ways.

You either make a decent plan and end up with something lovely.

Or you follow a crowd, panic-order, and sadly end up eating crisps hovering over a bin trying not to make eye contact with anyone.

So, to save you from that fate, here are some of the best places to eat near Bridgewater Hall on the day of Performance MCR.

1. Society Manchester

Best for: groups who can’t agree on what they want

Society is one of the easiest shouts near Bridgewater Hall because it’s a food hall, which means you’re not having the “I don’t fancy that” conversation for 20 minutes while everyone slowly loses the will.

It’s an all-day food and drink space with multiple independent kitchens, plus a bar and taproom.

For Performance MCR attendees, Society is a solid option if you’re coming with colleagues, meeting people between sessions, or want a lunch that feels a bit more like “Manchester day out” and less like “meal deal eaten at speed.”

The 5-6 traders here run lunch offers and specials, so it’s worth checking what’s on when you arrive, but most cost between £10-£15. Previous Society lunch specials have included Chicken or vegan katsu specials for £10, Slap & Pickle Super Saver burger and fries for £12.50, Yoki Social Table: Korean fried chicken, sauce, rice/fries, and fried Mandu dumplings for £13.99.

Food inspo can be found here on their socials: https://www.instagram.com/society.mcr/

Good for: groups, mixed dietary needs, food choice, networking lunch
Watch out for: it can get busy, so don’t leave it until everyone else has had the same bright idea. You can actually book tables (free of charge) to ensure you get a space here!

2. Greggs

Best for: the sensible people who know exactly what they’re about

Let’s not pretend we’re above Greggs.

Greggs is quick, affordable, predictable, and exactly what you need if you’ve got a tight lunch window and don’t fancy navigating a sit-down meal with one eye on the agenda.

Greggs currently promotes lunch meal deals from £5.25, including a main (hot or cold!), side and drink.

This is your best option if you want to grab something fast and get back to Bridgewater Hall without turning lunch into a full project. Also useful if you’ve spent the morning networking and suddenly realise you’ve had three coffees and no actual food. Been there. Grim.#

And also, there’s this ongoing joke about how one day PMCR WILL get a brand deal with Greggs and simply provide sausage rolls for you all at lunch. We can dream.

Good for: speed, budget, low faff, solo attendees
Watch out for: queues at peak lunch time, because Manchester knows a Greggs when it sees one. It’s also located on the junction of Oxford Road & Peter Street so can get a tad busyyyy.

3. Junction at Manchester Central

Best for: the closest proper café option

Junction is based at Manchester Central, just across from the Bridgewater Hall area, so it’s one of the easiest places to get to if you don’t want to go far.

It’s a café, restaurant and social workspace serving coffee, brunch and lunch-style food. Their brunch menu is served from 8am to 1pm and after that, their Main Menu does NOT disappoint.

Visit Manchester describes Junction as a place for morning coffee, lunch with friends or colleagues, and cocktails later on, so it works well if you want something a bit more comfortable than grabbing food on the move.

Good for: coffee, early arrivals, nearby lunch, small groups
Watch out for: if there are other events on at Manchester Central, it may get busier.

4. Haunt MCR, Peter Street

Best for: brunch, coffee and a slightly nicer sit-down option

Haunt is on Peter Street, so it’s close enough for a conference lunch without feeling like you’ve disappeared into another postcode.

It’s open seven days a week, with weekday opening times from 7:30am, and serves brunch/lunch-style food during the day.

This is a good one if you want a coffee, brunch, sandwich, or something that feels a bit more “I’m having a nice day in Manchester” than “I’ve eaten a cereal bar from the bottom of my tote bag”

Manchester’s Finest notes that Haunt serves daytime menus until 4pm, with sandwich options in the afternoon before switching into evening food. Between you and me, they also serve Tiramisu French Toast (eyeballs).

Full day menu available here.

Good for: brunch, coffee, small groups, nicer lunch
Watch out for: it’s walk-in only, so don’t bank your whole life on getting a table at exactly 12:45pm.

5. Ezra & Gil, Peter Street

Best for: brunch people, coffee people, and anyone who needs a decent iced latte

Ezra & Gil is a Manchester favourite, and the Peter Street location is very handy for Bridgewater Hall.

The Peter Street café is at 49 Peter Street, Manchester M2 3NG, and opens from 7:30am on weekdays.

They’re known for coffee, brunch, provisions and takeaway options, with dishes like breakfasts, avocado, smoothies, cakes and coffee.

This is probably the most premium option if you want a quick but nicer-than-average lunch. Again, it’s a popular spot friends and walk-in only so you have to be quick if you want a spot!

Good for: coffee, brunch, takeaway, breakfast before the conference
Watch out for: it’s popular, so expect it to be busy at peak times.

6. Wright’s Fish & Chip Shop

Best for: people who know lunch should sometimes involve chips

Wright’s is a proper Manchester chippy on Cross Street. It’s a little further than the Peter Street options, but still city-centre friendly if you’ve got enough time.

It serves classic fish and chips, pies, sausages, chip barms and other chippy staples. They obviously serve the classics such as a mini fish supper, cod, chips, battered sausage and chip barm.

Opening times listed by Manchester’s Finest show Wright’s open Monday to Saturday from 11am to 7pm.

This is the one for anyone who wants a no-nonsense lunch and has no interest in pretending a quinoa pot is going to sort them out.

Good for: chips, comfort food, takeaway, a proper Northern lunch
Watch out for: it’s not the closest option, so check your agenda before committing to a chippy mission.

7. Honorable Mentions

Papa Johns (next to Greggs)

McDonalds (Oxford Road)

Pret (Oxford Road)

What’s the closest food to Bridgewater Hall?

The closest easy options are likely to be Junction at Manchester Central, Society Manchester, and the cafés and quick lunch spots around Peter Street.

For speed, Greggs is the safest bet.

For choice, Society is the best group option.

For coffee and brunch, Ezra & Gil or Haunt are strong choices.

For chips, obviously Wright’s.

Tips for lunch on the day of Performance MCR

Manchester city centre gets busy at lunchtime, especially around Peter Street, Deansgate and Manchester Central.

To make your life easier:

  • Check the agenda before you leave the venue
  • Go slightly earlier or later if you can
  • Don’t take a group of 12 somewhere tiny and expect miracles
  • If you’re in a rush, grab and go
  • If there’s someone you’ve been meaning to chat to, invite them for lunch
